The Stranger defines, defends, and sometimes defies the culture and politics of Seattle.
Our coverage arises from a resolutely urban point of view, offering a unique perspective on the topics that matter most to people who live, work, and play in Seattle. Our original news reporting is relentless and outspoken. Our smart, funny entertainment coverage sets the tone of the city’s cultural conversation. And our innovative, interactive calendar, Things To Do, is Seattle’s most popular and exhaustive source of event information.
The Stranger is unpredictable, and we’re not always nice. But we are unmistakably on the side of our city and our readers. We love Seattle so much that we want more of it: more housing, more transit options, more bars and restaurants, more people. We take our reporting seriously—we won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing—but we are just as committed to gleefully f###ing around.
Special offer for Heart of Seattle applicants: Save 15% on your next advertising purchase with The Stranger. Not valid retroactively.

Harriet Bullitt started Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in 1995 to protect the natural beauty of a property near her Leavenworth home. Prior to her purchase, the site had been used as a base by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s, as a dude ranch and as a Camp for the Catholic Youth Organization. In 1991, Bullitt purchased all 67 acres to preserve the land and redeveloped the property into a mountain resort and retreat that embraces the site’s natural setting for visitors seeking an experience off the beaten path. In 2010, Sleeping Lady received B Corporation certification from B Lab, a non-profit committed to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems, further underscoring the resort’s commitment to the environment and the community. Rates start at about $280 based on double occupancy, and include all meals. For reservations and more information, call (800) 574-2123 or visit www.sleepinglady.com. Follow Sleeping Lady on Facebook.
